The 2016 fish kill on Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) was the largest cold-water fish kill ever documented in LCO. This report documents the duration, extent and magnitude of the fish kill based upon witness reports and photos received from eye witnesses. It also includes an assessment of the cause(s) of the fish mortality based upon review of LCO water quality monitoring data collected by the Lac Courte Oreilles Conservation Department (LCOCD) before, during and after the 2016 fish kill event.
